A sim racer's journey to the tracks of the 2008 Formula1 season

Overview of Hockenheimring, German Grand Prix

Posted on December 2, 2007 15:21 by ScottDrake

The 2008 German Grand Prix will take place on July 20 at the Hockenheimring in Hockenheim. The track has 13 turns and a distance of 4.574 KM (2.842 miles). Kimi Raikkonen set the track record of 1:13.780 while driving for McLaren in 2004.

Four rFactor tracks are available for this circuit however all appear to be an older layout. I’ll continue to look for a track for the new layout prior to starting analysis.

Future entries about this track will include:

  • First Impressions, including AI hot laps, screen captures and statistics about each turn
  • Ranking the corners for hot lapping
  • Hot laps and lessons learned
  • Passing zones, re-ranking the corners for passing
  • Racing and lessons learned
