Here’s the story behind this site.
My name is Scott Drake. About 1 ½ years ago, I stumbled upon the idea of delving into sim racing since doing any real racing wasn’t an option. I started with GTR2 and then moved to rFactor because I could get a version of Lime Rock Park and I preferred open-wheel cars. I’ve run a number of tracks and noticed how much more I enjoyed watching races on TV when I had driven the tracks myself in rFactor. So for the 2008 Formula1 season, I decided to research and drive as many tracks as possible prior to the races actually being run.
I’m putting together the blog for a couple of reasons. First, I gather a lot of data about the analysis I do for tracks. My notes get scattered and it will help me keep things organized. Second, I’ve found there’s a dearth of useful content on-line to help me become a better racer. I’m far from an expert but thought others might be able to learn from some of the analysis I perform. Third, by day I run a software development company. I’m always telling my team to keep side projects through which they can develop new skills. This blog and the related technologies will stretch me a bit and help me learn some new things.
I currently run an rF3 in rFactor because I'm not ready to jump into an F1 car. I run with no aides or helpers and F1 is too fast for my skill level. Maybe for the 2009 season I'll be at a point where I can break things down in those cars.
So that’s the story. Hope you enjoy the site.
